Hi
I spotted a few of these in a pile of rotting wood. 
Length approx 8mm. Any suggestions as to its ID appreciated.

As for an ID possibility, I've looked at Bisnius sp. - but with a group as big as this more experience than mine is called for!

My first thought was Othius punctatulus which is very common. However, the colour/shape don't look quite right. This is more like Gyrohypnus fracticornis at - http://www.thewcg.org.uk/Staphylinidae/0424.htm ? Need more thinks! |

Atrecus affinis, this one just seems abit darker than normal. |

I'd just found A. affinis, on the Watford beetle site and was about to suggest it as a good match. So I think I'm with Dan
