| | | Tachinid Fly photos - details wanted Hi all
I organise the Tachinid Recording Scheme along with Chris Raper. I've been looking through the WAB Gallery and there are lots of photos of Tachinid flies like Tachina grossa or Tachina fera in the Gallery, but very few of them have sighting details with them.
We would like to add these records to our database to increase our knowledge of the distribution of these flies, but to do this we need a few "standard" bits of information so that we can input a "complete" record at our end.
What we would like - for each picture - is:
Who - your name or your WAB forum name
Where - where did you take the photo - a site name and site reference, either a grid reference or postcode so we can map the record correctly. Doesn't have to be down to the last metre, but the more accurate the better.
When - the date you took the picture
Photo - a link to the photo so we can see we are dealing with the right species.
We try to keep reasonably current distribution maps on the Tachind Recording Scheme website, the most recent map for Tachina fera can be seen here, and we send our data off to the NBN Gateway so it can be mapped there as well.
I'm hoping to get plenty of records from WAB members. If you are happy to post your records details to this thread I can get the info from here. As my WAB PM in box only has room for 10 messages, the other option is to e-mail me at mat_smith1@hotmail.com. |

| | | Re: Tachinid Fly photos - details wanted Thank you to all the WAB members who have so far provided me with details of their Tachinid fly records. As a result of this thread I have added 28 records covering 9 species to the Tachinid Recording Scheme database, including another Mintho rufiventris record.
Here is a quick map made using DMAP showing the location of the records.
As you can see there is an awful lot of white space on this map where there aren't any records. There are a lot more Tachinid fly pictures sitting in the WAB Gallery than are mapped here, so if anyone does have any information to go with their Gallery photos, do please drop me a line.

| | | Re: Tachinid Fly photos - details wanted Matt also has my details, sent first to Chris then again later to Matt.
I realise the dots on the map are from this thread, but it would be nice to see my records all dotted together for the notoriously insect free Lincolnshire.
