| | | Where have all the slimey things gone ? Hi Everyone ,I know that Slugs and snails are not everyones favorites but Birds and Amphibians and woodmice munch them What I wanted to know is if any one else had noticed a scarcity of them in their gardens ? I have loads of broken shells and not a whole snail in sight or anywhere it seems even in my compost heap .Maybe I just need to make more hidey holes for them as the bird count in my garden is quite high though I do keep it quite Wild . Any other ideas ? Could the snow have killed off more than usual ? |

| | | Re: Where have all the slimey things gone ? Afternoon MM,
Funny, I was thinking the same thing myself, today - what are their hibernation habits? I saw three shells today, touching - I didn't think to see if they have live occupants, but I imagine they did as I hadnt seen them in that conspicuous spot before.
Take care, Jason |

Seriously, molluscs are amongst the invertebrates least affected by cold: their physical make-up is pretty frost-resistant and they crawl into some pretty well-protected nooks and crannies.
Don't worry about them! |
