| | | Springtail Isotomurus plumosus I found this yesterday on my pond!
It is scarce, and I think unmistakable.
I saw it again today but it's only 4C, with sun and a thin layer of ice on the pond although it wasn't on ice.. It started to curl up with it's head and tail under water so I lifted it out on my finger, it didn't move. I took it towards the house thinking it might warm up, it did sooner than I though and started to jump. It jumped off my hand, about 12 feet from the pond but I guess it will make it's way there as it did in the first place. I feel terribly guilty though, but maybe I saved it.

| | | Re: Springtail Isotomurus plumosus Afternoon Janet,
I agree - a very nice find, well done! Good photographs too. As they're found in wet habitats I doubt a trip to the pond would hurt should it re-venture that way, but well done for the rescue.
Wouldn't it have been typical to have dead batteries! Thanks for telling us
Take care, Jason
