| | Infestation In Bedroom (pictures included) I have recently discovered these tiny bugs crawling around my bedroom.
I first noticed them on the walls but then began to discover them all over my floor. If I really look, i can see around 40 at a time.
They are very small, around 2mm, 6 legged, antenna, black/dark brown at first glance but when under light appear light brown/orangy...they have an oblong shape with a hard back (cracks when i squish them) and move very slowly.
Oh and it appears difficult for them to walk over the carpet.
I'v done a lot of research and I can't for the life of me work out what they are and tonight... I seen 3 when I looked underneath my bed sheet. Obviously not a nice feeling to know you'v been sleeping with them!
Now I refuse to sleep in my bedroom until I can work out what they are, what they want and how I can get rid of them!! Please help!
Here are some pictures... |

| | | Re: Infestation In Bedroom (pictures included) They are rice weevils (Sitophilus oryzae). They've probably originated in the kitchen and have gone for a wander. They're completely harmless. Find the source of the infestation (a long forgotten pack of rice) and get rid of it. Whatever you do, don't call a pest-controller. They'll charge you for doing essentially nothing.

| | | Re: Infestation In Bedroom (pictures included) Its worth mentioning that this species also feeds on maize and stored grains (although as said prefer rice). The source is almost certainally in your house, they would not cope with the cold weather outside. Also try to get rid of the problem as soon as you can these are quite rapid breeders. Have a really good clean of all your cupboards/storage areas. |

| | | Re: Infestation In Bedroom (pictures included) Definitely not Rhinoceros beetles which are huge!
Check Rosso's ID of Rice Weevil Sitophilus oryzae which appears spot on.
