| | | Re: Book Lice help! Strangely enough i used to have TONS of junk in my room and i never ever spotted any book lice or other creepy crawlies. It is only since my room has been spotless that i notice these things! Life has a funny sense of humour i guess. So i really am frustrated as each time i think i have cleaned my room to perfection, i notice the dreaded book lice walking along the walls and it makes me go #!&*!@! nuts! lol. I haven't actually noticed any of the white ones you are talking about, just the ones with yellow heads and brown bodies, or just yellow or brown all over. There must be a million types though but i do think they are all book lice as i've google searched everything you can think of and have come to the conclusion that the things i have are indeed booklice. Maybe the white ones you see are a type of mite instead? I've heard that you really CAN see dust mites if you look hard enough...although i don't know for sure.
As for dethlac you can only purchase it from selected stores. Wilkinsons is one of them, as well as Robert Dyas. Other than that i think some smaller-scale gardening/DIY stores may sell it. Or you could order it online i think. I purchased it following advice from pest control as all of the other brands of insecticide have never seemed to work in the past tbh. I'm hoping my luck is changing! Good luck to you too. |

| | | Re: Book Lice help! aside from the dethlac i have now sprinkled borax in cracks and crevices as well as putting drops of lavender oil there. Can any one tell me if this will help eradicate the blighters? I still see at least one on a daily basis. It's driving me nuts!! |

| | | Re: Book Lice help! The tiny white ones seem too big to be house dust mites. But I have heard about ones that are visible to the human eye.
Should I be concerned that they could be mites?
I'm not sure about using Dethlac. I was thinking of getting it but read that you put it where the insects walk. This would mean I would put it EVERYWHERE in my bedroom. As I got to sleep in there, I was concerned about an insect killer all around me, me breathing it in. Do you think it would be safe?
For the past week or 2, I have seen at least one on a daily basis.

| | | Re: Book Lice help! It says that once it dries its safe for pets and humans and it's been on the market for quite a long time so i'm assuming it's safe. I have a small bedroom and i've sprayed it along my windowsill and in the cracks and corners of my room where i see them most. I think so long as you spray it where you see them most, then it should be okay as i am assuming they will all congregate there and pick the insecticide up and then die as they're walking to other areas. At least i assume so. I've actually gone mad and put tea-tree oil around my room now as that's a good deterrent for insects also!. As you can tell i'm willing to try anything! |

| | | Re: Book Lice help! I think I'll give Dethlac a try.
Last night I found 4 brown ones, a tiny spider and a tiny white one. Witht eh white one, I could make out the head and the thorax. It did appear a tad bigger than the usual tiny white ones. Have I got another species? Argh!
I just found a brown one in the bathroom. I have not taken anything in or out of my rom in case of spreading them to other parts of the house. I know they can walk but I don't want to help them.

| | | Re: Book Lice help! I feel your pain, honestly I do!. I think you should buy the dethlac. I saw two today. I think now that the sun seems to have arrived, it should dry up any dampness so perhaps these critters will cease to survive!. I've loaded my windowsill with borax and tea tree oil AND dethlac so i just hope that's enough to get rid of them. I think you should also try all of these home remedies yourself. |

| | | Re: Book Lice help! Hi there.
From reading this thread and looking at other pictures, I think I too have booklice and am hoping someone will be able to confirm this. I found them on my livingroom wall today which is cool and slightly damp and gets no direct sun inside or out. There must have been at least 100 of them spread over the wall, not concentrated in one area.
I've now hoovered the wall and got rid of the dust bag but took some pics first.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

| | | Re: Book Lice help! Thanks for your welcome Jason and thanks for your reply. Hopefully tonight I will get a better nights sleep now I know it is not something really nasty. Last night was awful, I didn't sleep well at all, kept waking up all itchy.
One thing, it might make me hoover a bit more now
