| | | Virtual Natural History Society Hello all
I've been thinking about WAB and changes in the way we all interact because we have the internet. Today, the local and national natural history societies seem to be slowly declining, whilst membership of networking sites is rapidly increasing. I wonder if there is a need to develop opportunities for these network members to meet?
I was at Preston Montford yesterday and whilst brainstorming ideas with Sue Rownsend (the centre Director) it struck me that WAB members might be interested in setting up a weekend - talks, social and maybe ID workshops?
What do people think? If it has milage I'd be happy to act as the link.
Happy New Year

| | | Re: Virtual Natural History Society A good question Roger. Certainly the internet provides a good medium for interaction with other like-minded people, and of course we don't all have to travel miles with the expenses involved. For that very reason, it might prove (for some) a no go, apart from others being not physically capable of making such journeys.
However, there are several groups of people here who do regularly meet up. If you look at the 'My Profile' link above your user name, you will find a link to Social Groups on the left side column in the second box. You could try setting up a new one, or join the WAB Entomologists Group already set up by Dogghound. Not many of us remember (or have the time) to visit it though.
If you already have contacts to several groups it might be a good way to bring them all together on here.
Janet
