| | | Bee's nest in my garage HI
I think i have a bee's nest in my garage. It is small, round, about 3 or 4 inches across and hanging from the ceiling.
Any advice on what i can do with it?
Thanks

| | | Re: Bee's nest in my garage If it is waxy, it could be a bee nest. If papery, it is more likely to be a wasp nest. Either way it is almost certain to be uninhabited at this time of year. A picture would help.

| | | Re: Bee's nest in my garage It sounds like a Dolichovespula sylvestris nest. It will be vacant now as only the queen survives winter, but something else might be using it as a winter shelter. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...ote=1&p=586280

| | | Re: Bee's nest in my garage I would agree with thunder, almost certainly a wasp nest started by a queen at some stage probably last year and then vacated, either because the queen found a more suitable place to build which is quite common or the other possibility is that the queen succumbed to a predator, Bird, Spider or Hornet.

| | | Re: Bee's nest in my garage Looks like I put the wrong link to the Dolichovespula sylvestris nest above! Dolichovespula sylvestris
Yours has the light streaks in it which means another one I think but can't remember which, maybe Dolichovespula saxonica? Dolichovespula saxonica nest - Google Search

| | | Re: Bee's nest in my garage I'm not sure if they will re-use the old nest, but something else might!
It's a thing of beauty, imagine all the hard work involved in making it. You have your own nature art Gallery to admire whenever you want so if it were mine I would enjoy and leave it there.
