Two Aquatic Minibeasts for ID
I took the first photo at Wicken Fen Nature Reserve in August 2008. It was swimming with others of the same type in a very small and shallow puddle in the middle of a path on the reserve.

I took the second photo when pond dipping at Welney Nature Reserve in August 2008.

I'd appreciate help with IDs. Thanks, John

The top photo is a mosquito Larva

The bottom is a freshwater shrimp (which is actually a amphipod rather than a true shrimp)

To elaborate on the Mosquito its a Culicine Mosquito quite different larvae from the Anopheline Mosquitoes.
