Snow fleas

With all the snow we've had has any one come across this little relative of the scorpionflies? Its one I've wanted to see but had no luck in the recent snow

Funny, I've never heard of Boreus hymalis before and the NBN doesn't have any records of it's UK distribution.

Not seen any so far, we do get them here though. The photo is quite ironic as I was at Ellerburn earlier on today.

One Barnsley record but I've never seen one.

Now I will have to keep my eyes peeled to the snow! I haven't come across these, but do have Panorpa. I have the right sort of habitat too, sandy soil and mosses.

I had a good look around some moss covered trees and logs with no luck today, Im guessing the clay soil and woodland habitat just isn't suitable .

Colin plant suggests spending a xmas time afternoon pulling apart some collected moss samples at home!
