Face of picture-winged fly

Stockgrove Country Park, Beds. Fence between coniferous planting and meadow.

This is a different individual to my last post (possibly the same species) although I imagine it's asking a lot to confirm id from this viewpoint. It would be nice though....however my main reason for posting was...well I though some of you might be interested to see the head from this angle.

That's a great shot! I like the deatl, and the way you've got a view almost looking up to the insect! Very nice.

Oh and as you say, I wouldn't like to comment too much on the species! The layout of the dark markings are comparable, in as much as you can see, to your vespertina as John had confirmed.

A very artistically-captured image though, as per!
