Bumbles and a Red Admiral

Whilst out doing my rounds of various clumps of Mahonia in Salisbury this afternoon, I counted 12 workers Bombus terrestris and 1 Queen. Several of the workers were clearly foraging for pollen and had huge loads of pollen in their corbicula.

On one Mahonia bush, I also spotted a Red Admiral butterfly, basking in the almost-warm sun.

Honeybees, of course, were 2-a-penny

Yes, I certainly will. I have a sticky thread running at the moment - The 'Active winter invertebrates' thread! - for WAB'ers to note winter-active invertebrates. Have a look, there have been a few reports of terrestris by different members... hope this helps.
