| | | Which leafhopper is this one? Found in a doorway, so not much light... 
Do they stay around all winter? I wondered if this one was trying to find a dark, dry spot inside.

Female leafhoppers are increasingly overwintering on conifers and other evergreens - this is an Idiocerus species and is one of the two maple feeding species, vittifrons or ribauti. Both are common in London, although ribauti is still not offically recognised as being a British species. The females are rather hard to tell apart unfortunately. I have also found these entering my house in the winter and supsect they might be attracted to light. |

| | | Re: Which leafhopper is this one? Thanks. We have a long row of Leylandii on the other side of the road. Migbt they be on those? The doorway was to our flats' staircase and quite a few moths and spiders find their way in , iI think because of the constant light.
