Metallic cranefly for ID

Hi,

I saw this cranefly in Sheffield in June this year. Being relatively attractive for a cranefly I took a photo in the hope somebody might be able to ID it. It seems more distinct than the very common types.

Belongs to the Ptychopteridae, a family related to craneflies. May well be identifiable to species level from the photo.

It's a male and a full shot of the wing would be very helpful for getting a better id

Thanks for your posts. I looked up Ptychopteridae which is certainly an interesting Family. I don't have a better photo so I suppose that it can't be identified down to the sp level, but of the three potential genera I saw online, it clearly could only belong to Ptychoptera. Looking at online photos I couldn't match a sp in this genus that could plausibly be the same as this one, as the number opf sp is very high and the number of photos limited.
