| | [ID] Which Carabid (Ground Beetle), please? Hi all,
I have just been looking through a few old files - and came across this Carabid beetle. Now, the quality isn't too good as it was taken before I had a macro lens. However, this beetle - in the only photo I have of it, I think - appears to have a rather flat and broad pronotum, and lacks much emphasis on the join between that and the elytra.
Now, this was taken in my back garden around an area of decking. Looking at the shape again it seems a good match for the Amara genus - which is a common garden one, apparently. I'm certainly not expecting a species-level ID from this rather ropey pic - though that would of course be good, but would like to settle on a Genus of possible so I can add it to my database/website. 22/04/2008 My only image of it I believe
Thanks for reading!
Take care, Jason |

Yes, an Amara sp - of which A. aenea is one of the golden hued ones but I'm afraid there's nothing like enough detail on this picture to get it to species ..... but I'll have another look tomorrow! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
