Question [ID] Two grassland bees, please!
Hi all,

Here are two bees...

May? 2008

I suspect Bombus pascuorum?
...it just seems too chunky? Early though, so maybe just fresh

June 2008

Is it B. pratorum?
...it seems to lack the yellow thorasic band, or does it not always have one?

Probably quite straightforward, but I'm not too hot on bees so will appreciate confirmation

I'm wondering whether the top one is Bombus hypnorum Jason,from that angle the tip appears pale.But I'm not certain

The top one is B. pascuorum and the lower one is B. pratorum. I have seen plenty of B. pratorum workers with the yellow on the front of the thorax reduced to just a few yellow hairs, and even some which have no yellow at all.
