Nicrophorus vespilloides
I remember seeing the Sexton beetle Nicrophorus vespilliodes earlier this year,I was wandering how common is it?Its a grander sounding name than N.vespillo,is it rarer than this?Thanks Jason.

If the NBN is anything to go by (which it isn't ) N. vespilloides is commoner than the Common Burying Beetle, N. vespillo.

Pukowski says N. vespillo is found in meadows whereas N. vespilloides is confined to wooded areas (see NICROPHORUS CENTRAL if you don't mind reading a 20,000 word paper )

Brilliant Charlie,the N.vespilloides I found was in woodland,I didn't know that this was how you found them even.I've got some reading to do .Cheers Jason
