Bug nymphs

Hi

Taken on 11th November 2009. I saw three different bugs of the same species varying from 1.5 to 2mm long. It seems they might be carnivores, there was half an insect on the same plant Beschorneria yuccoides.

Does anyone have a clue to what they could be?

Morning Janet,

These are young aphids IMO - body shape, head, antennae and even tiny conicles, etc - but with 500 or so species in the UK I have no idea which! The predated insect must have come from elsewhere. Any photos of that?

Hopefully someone will be along shortly.

Yep, aphids indeed. I also have no idea which one!

Strange, I saw the little pipe things at the edges but they don't look at all like aphids! They are quite flat compared to anything else I have seen. I have a side view but I doubt that would help. You might have noticed two pics duplicated in the Image Gallery, site problems!

I did wonder if they might be Psyllid nymps but I don't know what they look like. I took pics of a dead Psyllid I found inside (didn't know it was dead until I went to pick it up!) and I'm sure I can see some little pipes on it although the wings were in the way.

Jason, read my first post, it says when I took the pics. In fact it was such a dull day, and nearing night I could barely see them nor focus on them!

I did take a few pics Jason, but it was very short and as it was so dull I couldn't tell what it was but it was the head end and maybe thorax. I deleted the pics but could see if it's still there!
