Unidentified bug with large eyes

Stony Stratford, Bucks. On fence beneath ash, willow and sycamore.

Very uncooperative, camera shy individual

. Help with identification appreciated as always.

Morning Bruce,

I know this one! I think it's Pinalitus cervinus, a species associated with Ash trees, probably among others. My individual wasn't in the least bit shy, it stayed there for ages... or was that because it was already dead?

I'd agree with Pinalitus cervinus - found on a range of deciduous trees and often ivy in the autumn

Jason and Tristan - Thanks for your help with this one. I found a large number of images online (including of course your excellent website Tristan) - it's quite a variable species isn't it.
