Dustywing on Ivy

Northants garden growing on ivy (Hedera helix) growing up Horse Chestnut.

Size ~4mm

I was really pleased to come across this individual this morning as I'd photographed a Dustywing larva on the 4th October, see this WAB thread: Small, orange and white insedt

I thought I'd post a pic of the adult by way of completeness and in the hope that it might help towards an id.

Nice find and capture of such a small insect Bruce .

I think i had one similar last year, and it was described as Semidalis sp, hope this helps ...

Thanks for the suggestion on genus Gordon. I did some Googling on Semidalis and found your image on flickr - it is very similar looking. An excellent lateral shot too showing good detail on the abdomen.

Semidalis ties in well with suggested id for the nymph too.
