| | | A Few ids Please Could anyone help me with id's of some flies please? I'm finding it difficult with many similar markings. I'm trying to get a little picture album together for my daughter because she's showing a real interest too. I thought it would be nice to record all our flying visitors this year. Be grateful for any help.

Thanks in advance, it would be good to get proper names from the experts here.

| | | Re: A Few ids Please Thank-you very much for replies aeshna5 and eucera, I was thinking they were probably all hover-flies. I must get a better insect book. I have the pocket Collins gem and could only id Eristralis sp, E.tenax - Drone Fly? I'm confused is it still a hover-fly? Sorry for being a bit slow!
Anyway great to have proper names in plain English.
Thanks again

SusieBee | Eristalis spp are known as drone-flies, but are still members of the family Syrphidae ( hoverflies). |
