| | | Problem eariwiggle Hi All,
Thoughts appreciated on this one. Found at the weekend in Herefordshire, nowhere near the coast, on a roadside verge. It was about 15 mm long (estimate, but certainly significantly more than 10 mm), and I wish I'd kept it now. I don't know a lot about earwig, but from my limited books it looks rather like it ought to be lesnei to me... but if so, has it got a bit lost?
Ta muchly,
Joe |

| | | Re: Problem eariwiggle It does look very much like Forficula lesnei, to the point i'm positive it is. Don't now if it is lost though, might need to check the local records centre, they would be happy for the record. |

| | | Re: Problem eariwiggle That's brilliant - thank you! I thought it must be, but not being at all familiar with these I just didn't want to make a definite stab at it. NBN has only two Herefordshire records, both in the 1990s, so it does sound like it might be useful! |

| | | Re: Problem eariwiggle Evening Joe,
I agree - well done! A nice Nb record there. I like it when these rarities are backed up with good photos
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Problem eariwiggle Lesne's it certainly is.Although this is definetly under-recorded,yours Acutipuerilis, suggests a range expansion,Ive had similar situations where I know that I have a particular insect but my maps and Atlases seem to put it out of the question. The most recent of these being the Longhorn beetle Agapanthia villoviridescens ,which has expanded south into Hampshire,it makes for some nervy moments.Nice find |
