Fly I.D

Does anybody know what kind of fly this little fella is, it was very fond of this honey fungus.

It's not one of mine ... or anything I instantly recognize, so I'd post it on diptera.info and see if any expert there can give you a name - I am sure someone will have an opinion on it

Evening Ian (Is that your name?),

Try Phaonia sp., maybe P. pallida and see what you think - looks similar. Outside chance of it being a Lauxaniidae member if not!

Hey guys,

thanks for the heads up. I was just curious because when i went to clear the grass from around the mushrooms this little fella came up from under the cap and refused to budge even when i was touching the mushrooms. It was far from shy, and its colour is completely different to what the flies i usually see are.
