Question Flying bug id please
I live in midleton,co.cork Ireland.I saw a strange bug I never seen before,please help if you can?I have no picture but the bug was resting on a stone then took off in flight.Its wings are thin long see through,it body black, slender and about the size of a small wasp,it also had very bright orange legs(4 i think)it hoovered around my leg a moment the went away.

Welcome to WAB leofeline. I don't know about the bug but I know what's at Midleton. Are you sure you've not spent too long at the distillery?

I would think it's one of the Ichneumon wasps, of which Pimpla species look like the description but so do other Ichneumons. You would need a very good set of photos to have a better idea but if you google Ichneumon you should find some examples.
