| | | Springtail Sminthurides aquaticus Hi,
Meet this cute little chap, I have them on my pond.
Taken on 1st October 2009. This is probably a male as they are only 0.5mm long, which this little fella was. The female grows to 1mm. I noticed a tiny speck jumping along the water surface, as I snapped it came face to face with a Dolichopid fly!
The pics will enlarge more if you wish with a single click one enlarged, I left some other things in some pics which tell a story.

I have other pics with very small babies but this was luckily a bit closer, at the small size it needs to be! |

Yes, very small. What was he and the Doli discussing in that first picture? Nice find, I'm still looking... thanks for sharing!
Take care, Jason |

Take care, Jason | Evening Jason,
I think he was saying 'don't eat me please I'm too little', in the 4th pic he is thanking the heavens for not being eaten!
I've now got to upload the baby maybe dragonfly egg pics, not sure if I should start another thread for those though with a link. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
