Common Darters mating

Hi,

I thought you all might like to see the parents of my (hopefully) future Common Darters. Taken on 30th September.

Thanks, the photo quality seems to drop a little when uploaded here but I was lucky to get them in such good positions, and they weren't very bothered by me.

I haven't seen darters lay eggs in the pond yet, only the Southern Hawker but I guess they will have done, or will do. The mossy brick above the water surface is obviously a favourite spot, that was cued from seeing the Southern Hawker lay in moss in the paving slabs at the side of my neighbour's pond.

I got some of those nice thick chunks of moss growing along the roof edge in a greenhouse too to shove under the slabs at the ends of the pond, so moss can be very useful!
