#3 looks like Mesembrina meridiana
#4 is a hoverfly, Rhingia campestris
(going by the labels in the thread (labels 2 and 3 are the other way around in the Gallery names))

Generally, in my experience at least, they have heavier but more transparent pterostigma ( the coloured cell on the leading-edge of the wing) and often heavier veins. The technical way is probably antennal segmentation, though! Wouldn't mind other views on this.

| | | Re: Some Flies For ID Help Look at the wing veins. Look at the circle if this has got a vein from the bottom of it connecting to the vein below which leads to base of the wing its an Ichneumon. If this vein is absent its a Braconid. Size helps but isnt always reliable. |
