This aphid gave me such a nice view of its very prominent siphunculi (the two tubes sticking up from the abdomen) that I just had to find out what they were for. Here's a link if you're interested: Pheromone Alarm Produced by Aphids

It looks like a sycamore aphid, Drepanosiphum platanoidis, though I've never seen one that colour. However, males appear at this time of year and they can be somewhat different in appearance.

Thanks jaguarondi. I think you may well be right with D. platanoidisas as there are plenty of Sycamore trees nearby and I've located several pics on web that look VERY similar to my aphid.
