| | | Ant queen with wings possibly? Not quite sure about this one so I would appreciate a second opinion. S. Devon, rough grass and scrub of blackthorn, gorse, brambles etc.
I am thinking about a newly mated queen ant which has yet to lose her wings. If so are we talking about a Black Ant? I'm not sure about the abdomen.
I seem to remember a previous similar question from a little while ago but can't remember what was the outcome of that question. |

| | | Re: Ant queen with wings possibly? It looks the same as Lasius niger which I have, they swarm in the neighbour's greenhouse every year with plenty of queens but some get stuck in spider's webs. I help them out if I see them! I will soon be bringing the greenhouse to my garden as he no longer wants it, there's going to be a lot of upset ants! |

| | | Re: Ant queen with wings possibly? Thanks for the confirmation. I am finding a few oddities which I haven't seen before in that area and wasn't totally confident of my suspicions.
ps. My greenhouse was given to me by a friend who didn't want it over 10 years ago. Minus the glass (mostly broken) and I had to dismantle it. But it was one of the old fashioned designs made from thick galvanised steel and as good as new. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
