Weevil Id

Found in a garden in Bristol. Thought Vine Weevil, but the back seems to blunt rather than curve? Any ideas?

I'd label it Vine Weevil personally. I hadn't noticed the lack of curve - maybe a deformity? I didn't see it on one I saw on Sunday...

Maybe I have just overlooked it in the past? I know there is a very similar Privet Weevil. Im sure I read that no males have been found for this species, the females being parthenogenic.

Just to confirm from further research, we are likely to both have the Black Vine Weevil, Otiorhynchus sulcatus. I've seen this weevil around for many years, so it's good to have an ID.

Another bug is now proud to have an identity! Popped on the website btw, its looking good Jason. Hope your search for London wildlife goes well, if you need any pics/help/assistance I would be happy to give it a go

Just to update whoever may be interested but all the literature I have read does state that a male is yet to be uncovered. This leaves one wondering...are there any out there? and how ill you know if you find one?
