| | | 2 beetles for Id Both found in Devon on the bank of a reservoir. The first is a soldier beetle, but was wondering which species. |

| | | Re: 2 beetles for Id Thanks guys. I noticed O.lurida has a slight bit of orange to the abdomen, which is just visible on my specimen. I cant see it on any O.nobilis specimens. but what do you think? |

| | | Re: 2 beetles for Id It was the orange thing and time of year that makes me sway in that direction. I suppose it's more complex than that though! |

| | | Re: 2 beetles for Id You either need an exact size or a look at the last abdominal sternite (Microscope job). To tell the two females apart with any real confidence. |

| | | Re: 2 beetles for Id Due to the larger size of 10mm, and the sage green rather than metallic green colour I have now thought this may be O.virescens |

| | | Re: 2 beetles for Id Yes the size suggests O.virescens but the colour carnt be used to differenciate from O.lurida | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
