| | | brown beetle hi everyone
this is a first for me so please be patiant. we have found a large amount of small brown beetles in our home but i cant find any pictures on the ne that look the same. it looks like a Biscuit beetle but i cant see any legs or antena. when i touch them they act dead they have a slighly lighter head than body. i cant take a photo of them as they are to small 2mm max. they have a split down the back and a rounded body. we first found them in our spice box there was lava in there and i have found some mateing or doing the conger. i am in basingstoke so if anyone is close i could catch some up to show. please email me if you have any idear what they are and how to get rid.
thank you in advance for the help.
regards shaun |

| | | Re: brown beetle Sounds like furniture beetles (Anobium punctatum) from what you've said. Take a look at some pics on the web. If this isn't right, try and post some photos. Were the larvae living in the wood or free in the spice box?
If they turn out to be a wood-boring beetle and they're only in the spice box, then I wouldn't worry, but if you find them in other places you could think about treatment. There are lots of commercial products on the market, but you would need to find the extent of the problem before you thought about using any of these.
Let us know what you find. |

| | | Re: brown beetle Depends where you are finding them, but the active treatments in most commercial liquids and dusts are the same. Unless they're in structural timbers or in some favourite furniture, I'd leave them alone. |

| | | Re: brown beetle There are lots of products out there, but I'd really need to see a photo of the beetle or better still, a specimen. If you distract your wife for a couple of weeks, the beetles should disappear as the weather gets colder. Also, it would be good if you can identify exactly where they're coming from. |
