| | | Unidentified cricket Stony Stratford, Bucks. On wooden fence beneath ash, willow and sycamore.
As as I recall I've not seen this species before. Help with identification appreciated as always.

| | | Re: Unidentified cricket Hi Bruce,
I agree with Jason - an Oak Bush-cricket. The similar one that is new to the UK is the Southern Oak-bush Cricket - but that is almost wingless and cannot fly. Yours is a winged adult. Great shot, too.
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: Unidentified cricket Jason(not me) must be off his latin ,as he would have added Meconema thalassinum,as the scientific name for the Oak bush-cricket,oh wait I should have done that as well. |

| | | Re: Unidentified cricket Yes - I should, well done JC At least these two are fairly easy to seperate as adults from photographs, and having clearly seperate Commons. Still, deduct a point though... |

| | | Re: Unidentified cricket Jason and Jason - Thanks for your help with identification.
So, does the name Oak bush-cricket mean that the species lays its eggs on oak?

| | | Re: Unidentified cricket No they do not lay eggs exclusively on oaks,I often have found them on a number of other trees using a beating tray, which greatly increases the chances of finding them.Cheers jason |

| | | Re: Unidentified cricket Can we have the Latin names to allow us to differentiate between the two Jasons please (unless, of course, they belong to the same species )
