Hi,

I've seen this species several times now, is it A. makarovi?

And how about this similar one that lacks the pale veins on the forewing?

These two smallish ones (2-3mm) were on a sheet of corrugated iron in a field, Macrosteles?

Hi Steve,

Absolutely right but I can't say too much more - Macrosteles are very difficult and Aphrodes bicintus/makarovi is apparently a taxonomic nightmare; the group probably contains other cryptic species which are not yet resolved. I find these all the time but have not done anything with them this year

I didn't think the Macrosteles would be possible to take any further than genus, but I hadn't realised that the Aphrodes were so problematic. (so-one really ought to tidy up this "nature" business. It's unnecessarily complicated

)
