| | | Spiked Shieldbug.Unusual behaviour? Today I saw the Spiked Shieldbug, Picromerus bidens ,with the dessicated partial remains of an adult insect, which looked as though a spider had got there first. Two years previous I saw one sucking on an earwig.Im aware that this shieldbug takes caterpillars. But it was unlikely that the earwig was caught ,being quite a bit more agile than the bug.So does anyone know whether they are scavengers as well . Also in both cases there was a dispute between other Spiked Shieldbugs for the prey, are these chaps pack hunting? Cheers Jason. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
