| | | ID required please I found this insect in the garden just now, clumsily making its way through the grass before flying a very short distance to crash land in the grass again. It's wings were tightly folded when it crawled onto my hand, but they snapped out, as in the picture, just prior to it flying off. It wouldn't stay still for long.
Not seen one of these before, and have no idea what it is, so I thought I'd ask you WAB experts for a quick ID!

Spot on - it definitely looks like Notonecta sp, as suggested. I just didn't know where to start with this one and didn't even consider an aquatic species (not being anywhere near water) - although with those legs it seems quite obvious now.
