Any thoughts on this fly from the garden today. This was the only shot I got so no help from wing venation I'm afraid, but taking it as far as family would be progress from where I've got  .
Length C. 8mm

A brief search on Google shows this as an RDB3 (notable) species. I'll forward the pic to the hoverfly recording scheme.

Excellent find - I am always checking these and they're invariably campestris! The lack of any dark margin on the abdomen is the key character |
