It looks like the Snail-killing Fly Coremacera marginata. Nice shot, nice insect.

As Jason says this is indeed Coremacera marginata. As its name suggests the larvae are parasites of snails. |

Comparing abdomen size and shape with Ian Gray's WAB Gallery photo (see below) does the narrow abdomen on my fly suggest that it's a male?  Photo: Ian Gray
