| | | ID pls for small orange flying insects everywhere The garden is alive with these at the moment. If I knew what they were I'd be inclined to look up how they reproduce and perhaps take steps to discourage quite so many next time.
And while taking a pic of them, this hoverfly arrived and seemed unusually narrow waisted?
Thanks as ever. |

| | | Re: ID pls for small orange flying insects everywhere Agree with sawfly. And I will increase the stakes by saying possibly one of the Athalia species (Turnip Sawfly) or just possibly the Gooseberry Sawfly (Nematus ribesii).
Arge species possibly Arge pagana is also possible.
But I'm no expert in these and this is just a few 'off the cuff' suggestions. |

| | | Re: ID pls for small orange flying insects everywhere As usual am in considerable awe of such 'of the cuff' remarks! Having googled Athalia rosae they look exactly right. Won't grow any cabbages for the time being! |

And if you see one of these thats the larva of the Turnip sawfly! Just had one ID'd - and I've seen the adults on exactly the same horseradish patch.
