Bug ID- please help

Hi

can anyone enlighten me as to what this may be?

Spotted it yesterday on the table in the garden. My guess from a field guide (Chinnery) was Parent Bug, but wasn't quite sure if it matched the illustration closely enough.

I'd say it's a Hawthorn Shieldbug, Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale - are you into Latin?

Thanks Jason - I committed a rookie error. I misread the illustration in Chinnery as Parent Bug instead of Hawthorn Shield Bug. Well they are shown on the same leaf

I've seen quite a few of these. I thought the name referred to the reddish colour - you're not saying that's a description of the shoulder pads are you - Euowww
