| | | Pine or Privet Weevil? Found near a privet hedge but reminds me more of the Pine weevil. Any ideas? |

| | | Re: Pine or Privet Weevil? It's a Vine Weevil. I have been letting 'one' (or more!) go lately as there's another very similar one, Liophloeus tessulatus which I have also had. I have to take pics first then I couldn't make my mind up, lol, then I get soft.  Well they have a way of looking sort of sheepish.
The main difference is the lump inside the front foot is pointed on the Vine weevil and rounded on the other. The first antennal segment is another clue, it's at least as long as the pronotum is broad and shorter on L. tessulatus. The gold spots are also typical but they are not so visible until you get a pic!
