| | Mealworm update. Just been to 'my shed' grab a few mealworms for the hedgehog and spotted a few worms starting to pupate (if that isn't a tautology)?
10 - 20 days as a pupa, then 10 - 30 days heavy action as adults then death - but what a way to go! ! ! Then eggs, so I'm calculating I should have the next generation of mealworms just as the weather starts to worsen. Cheers, Tony. |

| | | Re: Mealworm update. I take it that's good then Did you find out how to 'preserve' them? I have to admit I wouldnt like the idea ofrearing them. My friend used to go and pick up stuff for his sons fishing trips and the sight of a cold store full of heaving maggots made my stomach heave too

| | | Re: Mealworm update. With the progress of the mealworms, hopefully there is no requirement to 'preserve' any. I'll freeze and defrost a couple to see if they withstand the process. To the lab' Egor ! ! ! Cheers, Tony. |

| | | Re: Mealworm update. In my experience, growing mealworms takes an almost infinite amount of time But it's very easy.
10-30 days as adults? Some of mine have outlived pets that I've had, and I'm now thinking of giving them names | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
