Hi Bruce,
It's not meant to be that colour! This one's only just emerged, I'm sure - it's an Oncopsis, I reckon, and therefore should be various shades of brown for the most part. I'm not even going to guess at a species...

I think this is better for Macropsis and looks quite like a photo of mine which was identified as Macropsis mendax -was there any elm nearby? |

Huh... I confess I'd forgotten all about that one. I can't quite see the striations on the pronotum clearly enough to separate the genera, but it looked a bit more oncopsidy in general to me. But you could well be right. |

Joe and Tristan - Thanks for your help with this one. It's possible but I don't recall having seem elm close by - mostly ash, willow and sycamore.
So roughly how long does it take from emergence to normal adult colouration?
