| | golden snail ID? Not sure I'm in the rightplace, but here goes - this pair of snails seen today in rough uncultivated grassland, near a (dryish) ditch.
Lovely golden colour, but I cant find an ID - any help or advice welcome please.
Cheers

| | | Re: golden snail ID? Thanks Duncan - a good lead - from there I went to amber snails and of these, Oxyloma pfeifferi doesnt seem right, but Succinea putris does fit pretty well.
Not seen these before - Uncommon ?
Any other views anyone, espec on distribution?
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: golden snail ID? I think you've got the Amber Snail there, Ken, Succinea putris.
They tend to travel further from water than Oxyloma and have that distinctive pattern on their shells at the start of the new growth. |

| | | Re: golden snail ID? Thats wonderful - thanks for confirmation Woodman - and yes isnt that etched pattern pretty - almost like there had been a snail feeding inside the shell.
Cheers
