| | | Re: Large Black insect identification please Not sure abot the Ponderous one... haven't heard of it. To me, it looks like a Long-horned Beetle from the Cerambycidae family, try Prionus coriarius from a quick search. EDIT: Great minds think alike, Charlie!

Im thinking this is a long horn beetle, 'Prionus', 'Prionus coriarius' I think 
I know it as a Tanner Beetle, but have found some people referring to it as a Sawyer Beetle (new to me).
Have a search for Prionus, should help with your ID. Just had a quick read and looks like it may be a male due to his gorgeous saw like antennae |
