As this is a London Insect. THis one was outside our local Asda, the others I've seen patrolling a conifer hedge but they didnt settle long enough for me to get a better photo. What is it?

If so, it's an Ichneumon wasp. I'll have to get back to you on species...
It looks good for Ichneumon extensorius - do you have any other shots at all?

Thanks I'll look that one up - all the ones I've seen have been really quite bright yellow. Perhaps we just have a local batch |

Could do! There are so many ichneumons, not that many are 100% nameable from photos in my experience. Must have been a nice break from the shopping! |

I got some funny looks as I was peering into the hedge with my camera at the ready!
If you look up Jezlee's photos, he has one, and there is a photo by someone who was asking for ID that looks just like my 'thingy' as they called it. Funny - that came up as an oversized photo too, they must be after fifteen minutes of fame |

Thats how I found it - then checked via WAB to make sure. So some are more yellow than others it seems. | | | |
