Help Develop the Insect Reference Pages

We're currently upgrading the reference section and we need lots of volunteers to help create content for the insect pages.

If you'd like to help, please click on the following links for more information on how you can get involved. We've tried to make it a very quick and simple process to add content in literally a few seconds, so please dig in and help out wherever you can

Hi, Stuart.

Can anyone help with this, or are you looking for contributions specifically from more experienced WAB members/contributors? I'd like to be of use, but I'm wondering what kind of level of information you're looking for. (I have had a brief look at existing entries to get an idea.)

Hi Stu,

I just hopped over to the Create New Insect Entry page - but the 'computer said no', something about me not being authorised? I was just hoping to add a few barkflies - these being very under-recorded, such as B. quadrimaculatus...

I'll get on with adding to other pages in the meantime. Oh, and thanks for all your latest work on here!

Hi,

You can certainly get involved if you'd like to. We're not just looking for experienced members, but rather have everyone help out wherever they can.

I came across a hoverfly which I did not recognise as being in this country!

This pic in the Gallery is where it has been taken from, if people place a pic in the Reference section without knowing what it is for sure then the Reference pages are going to end up a mess.

Hi all

Just been looking at the insect A-Z pages and found a mis-ident on one of the pics:

The picture associated with Tachina fera is incorrect, the fly in the picture is the Tachinid Nowickia ferox. This is a very similar species to T.fera, the main distinguishing feature is that the legs in Nowickia are all black, in T.fera they are brown.

Hi Matt,

I have just changed the pic for Tachina fera for a correct one.

I tried also to delete all the details for Allograpta obliqua which I mentioned months ago, I can't do it without adding completely new details. I guess I can find one not on the database and just replace the whole entry with something else.
