| | slug-like creature picking up leaves from lawn and saw a slug-like creature walking across lawn.
it is a fawny colour, about 2 1/2 inches long, with a blue stinger at rear, but sticking up on its back. I went to pick it up on a leaf and it went mad, curling its body head to rear very quickly, and the blue stinger kept impaling the leaf.
very quick movement for a "slug", and haved never seen one before. yellow stuff came out of its rear whilst it was trying to "sting" the leaf. I have now put it in a jar, until I can find out what it is. Thanks

| | | Re: slug-like creature Lime Hawkmoth by size and prepupal fawn and blue horn. This is harmless by the way.
Put it back and it will find somewhere to burrow and pupate

| | | Re: slug-like creature My Kitten brought what I can only describe as a blue horned slug/leech into the house yesterday and it sounds very similar.
Once i'd wrestled it off the cat, i was trying to protect it whilst getting glass to pick it up with.
It was a matte grey colour with a flat end and tapered down into a point, weirdest of all it appeared to have a blue horn on the flat end! It was still at first but suddenly started thrashing around wildly causing me to yelp and run away :-)
Any clues as to what this is? |

Do you/can you get a photo, or even draw it please? For now, it sounds like a hawk moth caterpillar perhaps. |
