Proud 'mother' Leech
After catching the first one recorded at Bedfont Lakes last month, I fished out another Theromyzon tessulatum leech who was carrying live young around beneath it. It was fascinating to see how the leech curled the edges of its body round to hold them in place when in 'open water', and undulated its flanks to move them around back into a presumably more comfortable position for holding them.
