Unidentified red-orange fly in Coventry
Hi all,

This is my first foray into insect photography (must get a better camera!). I was intrigued by this bright red-orange fly in my bathroom tonight. Its body was about 10mm long. Can anyone help to identify it?

Not a fly, but an ichneumon; maybe an Ophion sp.

(FYI: ichneumon's are wasps, hymenopterans, and flies and Dipterans )

After googling around for examples of Ichneumon, you seem to have identified it correctly.
